Back Story:She was deployed to the Solomon islands in 1942 and was primarily used as a short range reconnaissance air craft. Despite the fact that she flew many 100's of miles paroling the waters and airspace around the islands, she never actually saw combat as she had the misfortune of being forced down in a storm and experiencing a very hard landing on choppy seas that caused extensive damage to both air frame and engine. She was so badly damaged that the Japanese did not not have the parts or will to repair her so she was shipped on multiple vessels, eventually ending up in Japanese controlled French Indochina. Repair work was slow and time consuming as the base's hanger did not have the proper parts and admiralty was too busy fighting the war in the Pacific to supply parts to a critical damaged pontoon plane stranded on the fringes of Japanese held territory. Repair work was (eventually) completed late in 1945. Kimiko was shocked to find that the war was over and she spent the duration of it cooped up in a dingy repair hanger. Japan had lost the war and now French Indochina was no longer under the emperor's control. The French military discovered her and made use of the slightly out dated but now fully functional A6M2-N. She paroled the skies and coast line near her hanger, now flying for a different flag, but requested to still keep her original paint job in remembrance to those who were not as fortunate as her. She was discharged from French service later that year after the French military was adequately equipped to resupply the country.

You do know that after WW2 French Indochina was ripped open by war as Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam seeked independence esspecially on the communist's side? Did Kimiko do anything during those wars?

Edit: I read in the description that she patroled the skies under a different flag. Did she work for France? That would be awesome!
